Manchego wine
The Manchego wine is considered as one of the best wines from Spain.
The area of Castilla-La Mancha has a vineyard area of 560,000 hectares, which produces half of the grapes grown in Spain. In this area, Airen variety is the most produced in the world.
Castilla-La Mancha has five areas designation of origin:
- La Mancha: which produces red wines from Tempranillo and sensitive varieties suitable for aging in oak barrels, with soft, aromatic and mineral tone. When using the Cabernet Sauvignon, fruity reds rise very connotation of wood.
- Méntrida: This is another wine region which is dominated by the Grenache variety, resulting in deep red wines.
- Mondejar: It is red wine area that remains unchanged over time, the variety most used is the Grenache. Develops deep red color, although most of the vines are of the white Malvar.
- Almansa: This zone is characterized by the reinforcement wines with the predominant variety Tintorera.
- Valdepeñas: Zone of good wine, whose most notable wines are the reds, although most of its land is devoted to the cultivation of the white variety Airen. It has 487 hectares of vineyards. Formerly, the wine they produced in this region was called “claret”, which was red wine mixed with 20% white. Here, the wine was kept in jars covered with wooden tops and even today, these jars are used for storage. The ancient wines Valdepeñas were young and very rusty. Currently there is very little, and this wine achieving quality wines made with the most modern, very suitable for aging in barrels, which gives them a sweet and delicate, with light and very harmonious.
